Family talk:John Gray and Loretta Keith (1)

Pam, Do you plan to use his death certificate as a Source? His son, Thomas, gave the info and spelled his middle name "Almond". Maybe the distinction is not important. Because of the certificate I show it as Almon[d?]. Since you started his sheet I do not plan to make any name or date changes without discussing it.

A.D. Ashburn's parents named him "Almon" and my uncle George Adcock was named Alman. The solution may be to use the one and show the other as an alternate name. JW

yes, but I believe the spelling on the death certificate to be wrong..death certificates are the worst because next of kin gives the data and the funeral homes either can't spell or don't care. The funeral director got mad at me when my mom died because I made him redo my mother's for his mistakes before I would sign it. I think maybe we need to use it as an alternate name... Thanks, pam Where does the alternate name go?

Also, can we upload the Gray Family Bible since the last date is Maggie Adcock born January 18, 1901 or do we have to have possession and permission? Thanks, Pam

Pam: 1. I have no problem with "Alman" and I will add the "Almon[d]" as his alternate name. I think I saw where it goes. 2. Gray Bible: As I recall, I got a copy from John [deceased in 2004] Adcock's wife Dottie Adcock. I am not sure whether they have the original or not. I will ask. Permission is not a problem.

Regarding # 2 above: To date no one has the original Gray Bible pages, only a copy.We may not find the original but most of the dates were developed otherwise. [Jim]

Pam: I sent an email a bit ago and then remembered the "Talk" page for this Source page and will try to use it instead of emails if you wish.

Pam, I added to the 1860 Census the following: "Also left off completely was three-year-old William shown on the 1870 as 13 years old." If okay, no need to reply. Jim Let me know which Source page for Census records is a good one to copy format. Thanks. Jim

I'm on today. I sent email. Use 1860 Dekalb, Al. Go to Search Sources, put in 1860 U.S. Census Population Schedule, put DeKalb, Alabama, United States in Place, put Census Records in type and search. Select the record and edit page to see what needs to be filled out. Any questions, let me know. Pam

Noted. Thanks. Jim

Jim,

I pulled in the Bible images as an 'image and the are larger where you can read them. Rather than delete the gallery, I left it. Wanted you to look before I deleted the gallery. I think it's better larger. What do you think? Pam

Pam, the gallery is much smaller and probably should just be used for photos of persons when space may be an issue. Disapointing that when you click on the image and go to the image page it is no larger, or a way to make it larger. That is where your transcription of the Gray Bible would be helpful. Jim
