Using the census as a source [12 May 2019]

If you use the census as a source, the citation should include the whole family in the text box and the same citation copied from one family member to the next. If this is done there is no need to explain who each person is in the description box to the right of "place". Allow the reader to figure out the age from the birthyear.

The place box should only include the parish--the rest of the address can go in the description box. We have a database of places, but not of complete addresses. If the place tallies with our database, it prints in blue; otherwise it is red.

Always inspect the microfilm copy in Ancestry. Their transcription may have mis-spelled a name, place, occupation, etc.

Hint: I keep a notepad app open beside my copy of WeRelate to keep notes to copy and paste in view.
