[add comment] [edit] John Ellis Jr. [11 August 2020]The John Ellis who deserted Feb.1st, 1780, was John Ellis of Winchester N.H. This According to his pension application for service in the Revolutionary War Application # is or was # 3315. This I received from the Revolutionary War Records Section. He signed up July 2nd 1779. and the desertion occurred Feb. 1st 1780.He was not referenced Jr. as his father died when he was young. John Ellis of Richmond N.H. was Referenced as JR., as his father was living at least until 1790 as he is on the 1790 census for Richmond Cheshire Co. N.H. By 1779 John Ellis Jr., and his family were living in the Buckland/ Shelburn Falls , Mass. area.My contention is that John Ellis Jr. should not be alluded to as a deserter when in fact it was the John Ellis note above.--Garyafellis 22:55, 11 August 2020 (UTC) |
