Some have John's first wife's name as Hannah Goodale. This is unsubstantiated and appears to have arisen from combining his second wife's first name with speculation about his first wife's surname. The Abbe-Abbey Genealogy comments that Isaac Goodale called John Abbe his uncle "so this first wife may have been a Goodale." However, since there "were also intermarriages between the Killams and Goodales", Torrey's suggestion that John Abbe's second wife was a Killam would explain Isaac Goodale's relationship to him, without John's first wife having been a Goodale. --DataAnalyst 10:07, 26 October 2010 (EDT)
