There are two marriages in 1739 for men named James Leonard: this one and in Taunton, Capt. James Leonard m. Mrs. Sarah Paddock and became guardian of her daughter Mary. The husband here, b. 1677, d. 1764, is known as Capt., as was his father who is dead. Since he appears otherwise married, this marriage does not appear to go to him, and I am removing him from this page. This marriage belongs to an untitled James Leonard.

Other than the record of this marriage I can find nothing that goes with it, no children, no other James Leonards of Taunton that might account for this, no coverage in secondary literature. Nothing is shown on this page to identify the Mary Dean who was married. --Jrich 15:30, 31 August 2015 (UTC)
