Family talk:James Clark and Jane Blackman (1)

Nathan Adams (?) and Jane Blackman [1 January 2015]

I have reviewed all the sources given by Torrey concerning James Clark and Jane Blackman. In none of them is an additional marriage of Jane, to Nathan Adams, after the death of James Clark, mentioned. It is unclear where Torrey got that fourth marriage for her. One possibility, I suppose, is that of the five recorded children of James and Jane, one was named Nathan and another was named Adam. It should be remembered that Torrey is not a source but a finding aid, but in this case, it is of no help at all in pinning down the marriage of Jane to any Nathan Adams.--jaques1724 01:18, 1 January 2015 (UTC)

See the source cited on the marriage page of Nathan Adams and Jane Blackman - it is Jacobus, who says:
'Adams, Nathan, s. of Edward. ... Stratford Deeds prove that in 1734 and 1736 he was the (fourth) husband of Jane (Blackman) (Russell) (Griffin) Clark. ... Jane was Nathan's second wife, and Anna ----- his third.'
I don't know any more than this, and it might be a challenge to find the Stratford Deeds - but at least it is a starting place to look.--DataAnalyst 03:48, 2 January 2015 (UTC)
