[add comment] [edit] Wrong wife [19 February 2015]I removed Person:Adeline Rogers (1) from this marriage. This is an impossible wife for this marriage. There is a marriage in New York of Gideon Schoolcraft to Adaline Fairly in 1843. Note that Adeline Rogers is living with her parents in the 1850 census, so this was not her. Note also that Adeline Rogers is born in New Hampshire and listed as such in 1850, but Gideon's wife always gives her birthplace as New York. In 1850 Gideon has a wife Nancy A [as in Adeline] and various children include John H, b. 1843. In 1860 Gideon is the last line, and his wife Nancy is at the top of the next page, explaining why familysearch.org mistakenly split them into two separate households. John H. is age 17, and Alice is age 3. In 1870 Gideon and Nancy are living with Alice age 12, and Adam C [as in Clark] age 7. These are the two children listed as belonging to Adeline Rogers. In 1880, Nancy is listed as Adaline, but with the same children, now age 22, and 17. Nancy is named Nancy in 1855 and 1865 New York state census, Adeline in 1875 and 1892 state census. --Jrich 05:31, 20 February 2015 (UTC) |
