I don't think these are the children of George Bryant and Lydia Pennington. I find George and Lydia in the 1850 census in Claiborne TN, 1860 Knox, KY and 1870 Knox KY. Their children according to these census are Malinda, Miner, Speed, Susan, Pleasant, George, Mary, Isaac, Sarah ad Emily. There is a different Lydia Bryant in 1850 Whitley with children Brooks, Salama, Eliza, Lewis, Emaline, Vena and Daniel. This Lydia does not have a spouse in 1850, there is no evidence that her husband is George. She is listed as mulatto as are her children. These two Lydias have been confused in many charts because they were born about the same time.
