Family talk:Ellnathan Brigham and Bethiah Ward (1)

Watchers

Who is this? [27 January 2010]

I am detaching Person:Bethia Ward (1) from this page. She married Daniel Rice and he outlived her, so she had no second husband. I found no mention of any marriage for Elnathan Brigham in either Sudbury or Marlborough. I did find Source:The New England Historical and Genealogical Register, p. 22:387, "Inscriptions on Gravestones in North Mansfield, Connecticut", the following two records:

In Memory of Deacon Elnathan Brigham who died April ye 10th A. D. 1758 in ye 76th year of his Age.

In Memory of Mrs Bethial wife of Dea'n Elnathan Brigham who died April ye 15 A.D. 1765 in ye 83 year of her Age.

So this page represents a real family but it is not Person:Bethia Ward (1) as the birth and death dates disagree.

I did further research and have updated this page correspondingly. It turns out that it was the niece of the aforesaid Bethia Ward who married Elnathan Brigham. Apparently, all the dates on this page including the marriage date and the birth date of Elnathan were all estimated based on the identification of Bethia as the aunt, hence were all off by one generation, and in total conflict with the aunt's actual marriage. Once I realized this, it was not hard to find information about this family. --Jrich 08:51, 27 January 2010 (EST)
