[add comment] [edit] 2 David Walkers? [30 April 2014]Hi. I stumbled upon your page about David Walker and Mary Munford. I could be wrong, but I think that David Walker of Goochland and David Walker of Dinwiddie are 2 separate people. David Walker & Mary (Munford) are shown in Prince George Co., VA, and their children were christened in Bristol Parish: (1) Alexander, b. 3 Oct 1727; (2) Robert, b. 10 Oct 1729; (3) David & Mary (twins), b. 6 Mar 1731; (4) Freeman, b. 3 Sep 1734. David Walker is shown in Prince George Co. deeds in 1725, 1727, 1733, and 1747. Then in 1754, there is the Dinwiddie Co., VA, deed that I posted on their page showing that Mary, wife of David Walker, was the daughter of Robert Munford; that Mary & David Walker's son, Alexander, had died leaving a son, Edward Brodnax Walker. I tend to think that Mary & David Walker didn't move from Prince George to Dinwiddie. I think it's more likely that David Walker's land simply fell in Dinwiddie when that county was created from Prince George. Mary & David Walker could easily have had more children who don't appear in the records, but your David Walker of Goochland doesn't name any of the children born in Prince George Co., VA, in his will. It's also possible that Mary Munford could have died, David Walker could have married again, and ended up in Goochland and his will could have left out other children. I just don't know. But it's this disparity that makes me think that your David Walker of Goochland and David Walker (with wife Mary Munford) of Prince George / Dinwiddie are 2 different people. I'd appreciate your thoughts. Thanks - --Sarahs 10:08, 30 April 2014 (UTC) |
