Wife Apparenty not Sarah Ward [7 September 2014]

Jacobus in Families of Ancient New Haven. 3:594) calls Benjamin English’s wife "Sarah Ward." Salem Vital Records, 3:336 and 4:191, indicate that Benjamin English married Sarah Phippen at Salem on the date indicated by Jacobus. The Salem VRs do not indicate a Sarah Ward born there who would have been available for this marriage (not that she couldn’t have been born elsewhere), and no marriage for a Sarah Ward before 1755. Perley’s History of Salem, 2:327, also states that Sarah Phippen, daughter of Joseph and Seaborn (Gooden) married Benjamin English on June 8, 1699. --jaques1724 18:38, 7 September 2014 (UTC)
