No sources?--Goldenoldie 20:51, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
- Sorry - I have not provided sources for all my changes. All my changes are based on parish and statutory records from scotlandspeople.gov.uk. Since my initial unsourced edits, I have been adding these. Adding James Crosbie here was a complete mistake. James Crosbie was a son-in-law. I have deleted that record.
- My apologies. - Crosbie Smith 21:07, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
I have 1841 census and gravestone details from Dumfries and Galloway FHS if you want them, but I am busy on another project and don't have time to make the entries myself. --Goldenoldie 06:30, 18 May 2014 (UTC)
- Thank-you very much - I may take you up on that some time. scotlandspeople have the 1841 census records. These have to be paid for, unfortunately, but I have already done so in most cases. I stumbled over werelate.org yesterday while googling for 'Hugh Thomson', so I thought I would update him with those relatives I previously found via that site. My regards - Crosbie Smith 07:21, 18 May 2014 (UTC)
If your Thomsons move you on to Colvend and Southwick parish--and you know the descendancy line--I'd be interested. My main name there is Gibson, but the Thomsons are linked in.
I found it is very worthwhile to inspect the small cottages adjacent to the "big house" on any farm. They are quite often related rather than just hired help. --Goldenoldie 11:01, 18 May 2014 (UTC)
- Of course, if I do, I will. But I think Hugh Thomson is the end of my road. I don't think any of my ancestors lived in the big houses! - Crosbie Smith 11:39, 18 May 2014 (UTC)
