Son married to mother? [7 June 2011]

Abiezer Holbrook was born in Eastham 20 Aug 1741 to Abiezer Holbrook and Hannah Treat per Source:MD, p. 24:140. Abiezer Holbrook of Georgetown published his intentions to marry "Elis Snow" [Elizabeth Snow] on 24 Sep 1761 in Brunswick, ME per Source:Maine Historical Magazine (Porter, Joseph W), p. 4:95, and on 14 Jan 1762 married her (ibid, p. 9:135). --Jrich 09:59, 7 June 2011 (EDT)

I have looked around for the facts on this page, and find nothing conclusive. The Vinton Memorial has a big subsection on Holbrook and none of the many listed there seem to fit this page. "Mary Cooksey" wife of son John Holbrook seems non-existent. John Holbrook born in 1761 is a deacon living in Weymouth, Mass., not in Georgetown, Maine. Abiezer Holbrook of Georgetown married a different woman, too late to father a son John in 1761. The Abiezer Holbrook who married Hannah Treat appears to be the father of the Abiezer of Georgetown (there are actually many Abiezer Holbrooks) but has no son John. John's son Joseph is shown on the WeRelate page as born in NC one year after his parents allegedly married in Maine, and died in MO. Joseph's birth in 1781 is too soon to allow John to reach legal age. There are no sources on any of this except a few Ancestry OneWorldTrees (which never inspire confidence), and it appears to be junk, and not even reasonable junk at that. --Jrich 15:00, 7 June 2011 (EDT)
This page has so many discordant parts that I did not change it. Instead, I created new pages for the people I am working on, and leave it to future researchers to decide what to do with this page. For those that are interested, there is a page for the 1739 marriage of Abiezer Holbrook and Hannah Treat (not 1760), there is a page for the Abiezer Holbrook b. 1741 (who was son of Hannah Treat, not her husband), and a page for his 1762 marriage to Elizabeth Snow (not 1760 to Hannah Treat). --Jrich 00:15, 8 June 2011 (EDT)
