    William Wright was born in Yorkshire, England, May 16, 1788. He emigrated to America when a young man, passed a few years in the Mohawk Valley, and there married Elizabeth Reynolds. About 1820 he came to Belvidere, and was an overseer for Philip Church, with his residence in the White House. In 1827 he purchased a farm in Scio, settled on Knight's Creek, and was also engaged in lumbering. He had a family of 11 children. He died in 1854, his wife in 1873.
