  2.   Source:Cambridge, Middlesex, Massachusetts, United States. Vital Records to the Year of 1850, Vol. 2, p. 324 , has a marriage "READ, William C. and Sarah (Sarah G., int.) Johnson, Jan. 27, 1828." Given Reed's reputation, it is easy to assume he mis-communicated the correct marriage, especially since no marriage record is found for William and Sally Atkins. But there are two death records for Sarah G Read. Sarah G (Johnson) Read, who d. Boston 1881, as a widow (Mass. VRs, vol. 330, p. 61), wouldn't have been William's wife, since he didn't die until 1884, and was still married at the time. Since these people were alive when Reed wrote his book, it is conceivable that he was in communication with them and, barring record-keeping errors, fairly authoritative.
