↑ There is considerable confusion about the wife's given name. The marriage record gives the wife's name as Rachel, as cited. The birth and death records of the children that have been located say Sarah. Seth March and Rachel Ellis of Sturbridge had daughter Rachel b. 1753, and daughter Sarah b. 1756. Source:Cutter, William Richard. Genealogical and Family History of the State of Connecticut, p. 1348 names the mother as Rachel, but gives her birth as 13 Feb 1756 (Sarah's birth date), and her death as 9 Jan 1823. The Find A Grave memorial for this death date is for "Sabrah", b. 1756, but the gravestone is undecipherable as pictured. Significantly, several Emily Dickinson biographies (e.g. here) name her aunt as Sarah, which presumably would be informed by family documents. In addition, it appears that the daughter Rachel married 1774 Thomas Stone.
