    Peculiar Jurisdiction of Canterbury
    On the Twenty First Day of July 1777
    Appeared personally William Hammond who being Sworn upon the Holy Evangelists to depose the Truth upon his Oath deposeth and saith That he is of the Parish of Bersted in the County of Sussex which hath been the usual place of his abode for Two Months last past Aged Thirty Years and a Batchelor And intendeth to intermarry with Ann Wheatley of the Parish of Pagham in the County aforesaid which hath been the usual place of her above for all her time Aged Twenty One Years and a Maiden And that he doth not know or believe there there is any lawfull Lett or Impediment by reason of any Precontract Consanguinity Affinity or any other lawfull cause whatsoever to hinder the said intended Marriage and prayed Licence to solemnize the said Marriage in the Face of the Parish Church of Pagham aforesaid
