  3. Inconsistencies and probable errors among records. One family tree claims Eunice was about 18 (born about 1786) when marrying William Ewing. in 1804 and says that "Elder William Ewing " was born 1782 at Windsor, VT. There is no indication of another "Elder William Ewing" in Vermont at this time. Adding to the confusion are ..Records of Windsor County Superior Court (3:28, Journal of Gen. Assemb., 1807: 288 and Windsor Post Boy (Vermont) 11/11/1806 (on-line report of suspicious deaths in Vermont) reports death in West Windsor of Amelia Lamphere, wife of George L. Lamphere from injuries to side, loins, and back. Nine doctors concluded that blows caused death and were probably inflicted by George Lamphere and that his mother was accesory. But the reports also name George Lampheir as "Accused 1" and say that George was married to "Eunice". Named as "Accused 2" is "Eunice Lamphier" and identifies her as "widow of William Ewins of Windsor" (Inconsistent with Vermont death record for William Ewing in 1811. All this suggests transcription or record erros and/or confusion of people with similar names. One family tree says that George Lanphear married Eunice Howard in 1781 and that she died in 1806 (same year as reported murder of "Amelia")
