    Be it remembered, that on this 2nd day of February, 1853, the following license was issued:
    State of Indiana, Washington County (SS)
    To any person empowered by law to solemnize marriages, greeting: You are, by these presents, authorised to join together as husband and wife, William Dowling and Nancy Ann Tucker according to law; and for so doing, this shall be your sufficient Warrant. Witness (illegible), clerk of the Circuit Court of said County, at Salem, the 2nd day of February, eighteen hundred and fifty three. (illegible), Clerk

    John Tucker gave his affidavit for Nancy Ann Tucker, a resident of Washinton County, Indiana, and that he heard Lucinda Wright, Said Lucinda Ann's Mother* (her father being dead) give her consent for said Nancy Ann to marry William Dowling.

    *I believe this should read "Said Nancy Ann's Mother."
