According to daughters Cal and Margery, originally intended to marry earlier in 1926. Marriage was postponed until fall because of Emma's brother Eddie's tragic death in a tractor accident. Emma and Bill had their honeymoon in the summer (before the marriage) at Dolly Copp Campground in the White Mountains. At this time the campground was where the Dolly Copp picnic area is currently located (See History of Dolly Copp and Dolly Copp Campground. Emma told her daughters she had seen Dolly Copp while traveling with Bill (during courtship?), and had "fallen in love" with it. With the exception of WWII (due to rationing), Emma spent time at Dolly Copp almost every summer from this time forward throughout her life.
