Sam Smith tells me that Verna was/is a Jew. That Uncle Arnold was antisemetic and was very upset about their relationship and marriage. I thought she was Catholic; somehow I got that impression from my Mother. I remember Mother telling that Bill and Verna has a very large wedding with much dancing and that they received a large sum of money because the custom was to 'pay' to dance with the bride.
