In June 1641 "Will[ia]m Bucknum of Charlestowne, carpenter," petitioned that "whereas his mother-in-law the widow Wilkinson keeps away from him his son John Bucknum against the good will of this petitioner which is like to be a breach of peace between us, your petitioner humbly prayeth the widow Wilkinson may be ordered to redeliver to this petitioner his said child" [Lechford 411].
