    June 3, 1794 Marriage Bond of William Bickers (son of Thomas, Robert) & Sally Leathers. "Know all men by these presents that we William Bickers & Caleb Bickers are held and firmly bound unto Henry Lee Esqr Governor as Chief Magistrate of Virginia in the sum of Fifty Pounds Curt Money to be paid to thesaid Governor his Succefsors For the time being for the Use of the Common Wealth To the Which payment Well & Truly to be made We bind ourselves Our heirs Extors & Admrs. Jointly & Severally firmly by these Presents Witnesfs our hands & Seals this 3d. day of June 1794. The Candition of the above Obligation is Such that if there be no Lawful Cause to Obstruct a Marriage to be had and Solemnized between The above Bound William Bickers and Sally Leathers. Spinster Then the above Obligation to be Void or Else to remain in full force And Virtue. Sealed & Delivered in presence of James Taylor. Wm X Bickers his mark Caleb Bickers. " .
