Utica Observer-Dispatch, 30 Oct 1944: BAUMES--DOWNS Miss Beatrice Katherine Downs, 18 Dennison, Whitesboro, daughter of Mrs. Cora F. Downs, 414 Aiken, and William I. Baumes, son of Mr. and Mrs. William L. Baumes, 8 Hoffman, Whitesboro, were married Friday at the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Fred White performed the double ring ceremony. Mrs. J. Stuart Welch, sister of the bride, was matron of honor, and Hugh Pugh was best man. Miss Irene Baumes, sister of the bridegroom and Miss Agnes Murphy were bridesmaids. Melvin Baumes and Raymond Cronk were ushers. The bride, given in marriage by her brother Harold Downs, wore a white satin gown... She carried a bouquet... Miss Baumes wore a fuchsia gown... The bride's mother wore dark blue crepe... A reception was held at the home of Mrs. Welch, 18 Dennison. After a trip to New York, the couple will make their home at 27 Shepherd PL. Mrs. Baumes is a registered nurse. Mr. Baumes is employed by the Skenandoa Rayon Corporation.
