  1. ↑ Lillian and William were never married, and although it is well understood that William is the father of Lillian's children he does not appear on any of their birth certificates, but then niether does any man. The story goes that William offered to pay for Lillian to get an official divorce from Thomas Manderson however Lillian refused to let him pay saying that it was she who had got married and it would be her who would pay for any divorce.
