Wesley Straley enlisted in the Union Army of Pennsylvania Volunteers 29 Feb 1864. He was a Private in Company B, Pennsylvania 7th Cavalry. He was a prisoner of war from October 1, 1864, to April 21, 1865. He was discharged by General Order, May 19, 1865.
Millard is the only one of Wesley's 5 children admitted to a Soldier's Orphan School. Millard died at the White Hall Soldier's Orphan School 14 July 1884. The only documented symptom is "sore throat".
