(On 2 April 1661, "Walter Poor & Trial his wife being convicted of fornication by them committed together before marriage, the Court sentenceth him to be openly whipped with 15 stripes by the constable of Cambridge & to pay a fine of fifty shillings for his wife or else she to be whipped also. Ralph Shepard appearing in Court, acknowledged himself engaged to pay 50s. to the Treasurer of this County in behalf of his son-in-law Walter Poor" [MCR 1:189; MCF Folio #28].)
