  1.   Source:Howe, Gilman Bigelow. Genealogy of the Bigelow Family of America, p. 22, says Martha "m. twice; her second husband was Obadiah Woods". No information is given about the first marriage or how it is known she married twice. Source:Olmsted, Henry King. Genealogy of the Olmsted Family in America, p. 391, has an interesting passage that may hint at the situation? "...Martha (Bigelow) Olmsted, the discarded wife of Thomas Olmsted, of Hartford, who married Obadiah Wood and reared a fine family of children. [The child of Thomas and Martha] was born in 1686. The sex of the child is unknown; there is no evidence whatever that it lived to grow up. This child was born in wedlock and probably would have held the Olmsted name even though the mother was divorced..." Nothing was given about this in the biography of Thomas Olmsted of Hartford, and this was written on a remote page while discussing another topic. Source:Barbour, Lucius Barnes. Families of Early Hartford, Connecticut, p. 438, says Thomas Olmsted, m. (1) 25 Jun 1694 [sic, 1691 per Barbour records] Hannah Mix, m. (2) Martha Bigelow, but gives no death for the first wife, no date for the second marriage. The last child born to Thomas with wife Hannah was 1706. One would expect a second marriage to use the name of widow Martha Wood? Thomas' will of 1735 appears to suggest he had no living wife at that time.
