Excerpt from Bill Herlihy's 10 Aug 01 History of Hannah Maria Johnson Herlihy, p. 7:

" Beatrice Johnson Shields had a childless marriage. She married Thomas "Tom" Shields B between July 1884 & July 1885 in England d July 25, 1949 NYC. The Johnson and the Shields families knew each other in the Old Country. Tom is the one who hand copied the 1926 Sam Johnson letter into notebooks. He was a welder who developed lung problems from working in close places. After Tom's death, Beatrice worked many years as a Companion to wealthy ladies. In her last year or so, she lived with Andy & Dorothy Seeger."
