  2. The literature is full of claims that the wife of Thomas Mason is Mary Arnold (e.g., here, here), but the marriage record says Hernall. They call Mary "dau. of the wife of Samuel Sady" without identifying the mother. We know from her death record that Mary was born about 1703, and we know that Samuel Sadey married a wid. Mary Hernden in 1704 according to Andover VRs. Further we find that Barachias Harndine d. in Andover 1702-3 after marrying Mary Johnson in Andover in 1701. Barachias is the name Thomas and Mary gave to the first son. Arnold appears to be erroneous, presumably based on the death of a seemingly unconnected Barachias Arnold in Boston in 1702. Further, that death belonged to a 10 year old boy, and his mother's name was Abigail.
