  1. application of Ova Blair Linkous, in National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution. U.S., Sons of the American Revolution Membership Applications, 1889-1970.

This application claims that John Cecil the immigrant was the son of Sir Thomas Cecil and Susan Oxenbridge. The Cecil family of Maryland (1963) makes no such claim, and there is no evidence that this might be true (no such claims have provided any sources).

  2.   Sir Thomas Cecil, in FamilySearch Family Tree.

The memories tab includes a two-page presentation of completely unsourced information on the Cecil Family, claiming that this marriage took place, and that John the immigrant was their son. Some of the information presented has been refuted in The Cecil family of Maryland (namely that Thomas Cecil was granted land in Maryland).

    T. Cecil (identified as Thomas Cecil the engraver) made a map of Maryland. No proof he was ever in Maryland. No Thomas Cecil exercised his rights to land in Maryland.
