Lengthy discussion of belief that Thomas Burnett of Southampton had two wives named Mary, Mary Cooper and Mary Pierson. Cites NEHGR, "Thomas Burnap, Husband of Mary Pearson", Oct. 2001, to show that Mary Pearson actually married Thomas Burnap, mispelled as Burnitt in Lynn records. Concludes "it is highly likely that Thomas Burnet of Long Island had only one wife named Mary, very probably Mary Cooper, daughter of John Cooper and Wibroe Griggs." Mary is left out of John Cooper's will, but 3 charges of assault by John Cooper and John Cooper Jr. against Thomas Burnet suggest why.
