'Thomas Boreman's wife, who survived him, was named Isabel; no record of her death has been found, and it does not appear whether she was the mother of all his children.'

  2. The only thing known for certain about the order of birth of the children is that William was the oldest son (father's will). The relative order of Thomas the elder and Thomas the younger is obvious. The daughters are mentioned in their father's will in the order Sisley, Elizabeth and Joane (Ann having already died), suggesting the relative order of their births. The order the sons are mentioned does not appear to reflect their birth order, but I have used this order to place John older than Christopher (lacking any other useful data on them).

The estimated birth years given here fit the known facts, as well as Goldthwaite's suggestion (p. 93) that Thomas the younger was still relatively young (living at home with his mother) when his father wrote his will in 1576.
