[BR=Bolton Record. Note: The Bolton Record represents the research of Ethel Bolton and while respected, the source of the data is not indicated. Since the 1850 census suggests a son aged 16, born by 1834, this date would require an earlier marriage, for which we have no evidence. It seems likely, not knowing the source, that some event like admission to church, etc., that did not correspond to the actual wedding was misinterpreted as a marriage. Likewise, the wife's death record names her as Catherine Hodgdon (Unknown) Barrett, so it is not known if Hodgdon (a common surname in Maine, probably more likely the true maiden name than Hodgkin) was a middle name, or her maiden name (again, not knowing the source the Bolton record relied it, it is hard to know how authoritative it is, whether it was before or after the actual marriage, etc.)]
