Pulaski Democrat, 31 July 1929: DURGEE--HOWLETT Miss Dorotha A. Howlett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Howlett, became the bride of Spencer I. Durgee, son of Mrs. I.A. Durgee of Parish, at four o'clock last Thursday afternoon at the home of her parents. Rev. W.S. Warren of McGraw NY performed the ceremony. Ferns and hydrangeas were used as decorations. The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, was attended by Miss Grace Brown. Theodore Durgee, brother of the groom, acted as best man. The wedding march from Leybock's 5th Nocturne was played by Miss Marion Durgee, sister of the groom. The bride wore yellow chiffon... Her maid of honor, Miss Grace Brown, wore pale green chiffon... Following the ceremony a wedding breakfast was served... The bride is a graduate of Pulaski Academy and the Oswego State Normal, and has been teaching in Syracuse. The groom is a graduate of Parish High School and is in the employ of the Onondaga Litholite Company at Syracuse. After the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Durgee left by motor for a trip through the Adirondacks. On their return they will reside in Syracuse.

Pulaski Democrat, 11 July 1979: CELEBRATE 50TH ANNIVERSARY On Saturday, June 30, Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Durgee of Lehigh Acres, Florida were honored at a reception for their 50th wedding anniversary at the new home of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Mandigo on Centerville Road. The former Dorotha Howlett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Howlett of Pulaski, was married to the son of Mr. and Mrs. Irving Durgee of Parish by the Rev. W.S. Warren of the Pulaski Baptist Church on July 25, 1929 at the home of the bride's parents. The maid of honor was Grace Brown Burhans, of Pulaski, a friend of the bride, and the best man was the late Theodore Durgee, brother of the groom. The original yellow wedding dress was displayed at the 50th anniversary reception at the Mandigo home. The 12:30 p.m. anniversary reception began with a buffet luncheon and was followed by wedding cake and punch at 3:00 p.m. The bride's table was set with pink candles as it was at the wedding 50 years ago. 79 guests signed a tablecloth to be embroidered as a permanent momento of the day for the Durgees. Six of these guests, including the maid of honor, had attended the wedding 50 years ago. Out of state guests came from Woburn, Mass. and St. Petersburg, Florida. Out of town guests came from Fulton, Camden, Syracuse, Central Square, Baldwinsville, Henderson Harbor, Rochester, Liverpool, Pennellville, Utica, Ithaca, Parish, Oneida, Williamstown, and Adams Center. . Gifts for the Durgees included a frame of pictures of events in the Durgees' lives, a hanging basket with silk flowers, an anniversary candle, a hand embroidered red tablecloth and napkins from Kasmir, India, a set of tea bag holders, a frame for the Durgee's anniversary picture, glass figurines, guest books, oil painting of spring flowers, and many gifts of money. Assisting with the reception were the Mandigos' five sons and their families including, Paul and his wife, Joyce, and their children, Katie and Jon of Naperville, Illinois; Theodore of Chicago, Illinois; Frank and his wjfe, Nadine, and their children, Jennifer and Christopher of Northford, Connecticut; Charles of New York, New York; Debra Claycomb of New Boston, Virginia; and Daniel and his wife, Marilyn, of Pulaski.

Pulaski Democrat, 7 Aug 1989: DURGEES CELEBRATE 60TH ANNIVERSARY On Saturday, July 1, Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Durgee of Lehigh Acres, Fla. were honored at a reception and luncheon for their 60th wedding anniversary hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Richard Mandigo in the Social Hall at the First Baptist Church in Pulaski. Sixty years ago, on July 25, 1929, the former Dorotha Howlett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Howlett of Pulaski, was married to the son of Mr. and Mrs. Irving Durgee of Parish by the Rev. W.S. Warren of the Pulaski Baptist Church at the home of the bride's parents. The maid of honor was Grace Brown Burhans of Pulaski, a friend of the bride, and the best man was Theodore Durgee, brother of the bridegroom. Seventy guests signed the guest book at the 60th anniversary reception. Honored guests seated at the head table with Mr. and Mrs. Durgee were Mr. Durgee's sisters, Gail (Durgee) McSweeney of Fulton and Vera (Durgee) Gridley of Syracuse, who had attended the wedding 60 years ago. Also attending the July 25, 1929 wedding and the anniversary reception were Mr. Richard Mandigo of Pulaski, a cousin of Dorotha Howlett Durgee, and Ruth (Calkins) Whitcombe of Fulton. Out-of-town guests came from Syracuse, Fulton, Pleasant Valley, Adams, Brockport, Liverpool, Oswego, Parish and Oneida. Out-of- state guests came from Massachusetts, Ohio and Indiana. A memory book whose leather cover was purchased by Mr. and Mrs. Richard Mandigo in Florence, Italy, and was embossed with gold lettering, contained messages, pictures, and newsclippings of remembrance for the Durgees. Messages of those unable to attend were read. The Social Hall of the First Baptist Church was decorated with an enlarged version of the Durgees' wedding picture. A bouquet of alstroemeria, shasta daisies, summer spirea, and fern decorated the head table and was again used the next day to decorate the altar area of the First Baptist Church during the church service. Decorating each of the tables was a small copy of the Durgee wedding picture and a vase of flowers similar to those on the head table. Assisting Mr. and Mrs. Richard Mandigo with the decorations, luncheon and program were Flower Clark McMillen of Pulaski, the Ann Judson Society of the First Baptist Church of Pulaski, and the Mandigos' five sons and their families, including Paul and Joyce, and their children Katie and Jon of Naperville IL; Theodore and Shirley Swanson and their son Richard of Elmhurst IL; Frank and Nadine and their children Jennifer and Christopher of North Brandford CT; Charles and Lori Ann Dartinne of Washington DC, and Daniel and Marilyn and their children Kristy, Danielle and John of Pulaski. On Saturday, June 17, Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Durgee were honored by the former Three M's Group of the Calvary (United) Baptist Church of Syracuse. After gathering at the home of Mrs. Curtis Van Dusen for hors d'oeuvres, guests were served dinner at the Fireside Inn in Baldwinsville. After dinner Mr. and Mrs. Durgee and the 20 guests from Syracuse, Oswego, and Pulaski returned to the home of Mrs. Curtis Van Dusen for dessert.
