Solomon Reed moved his family to wild, mostly uninhabited Muncy Creek during the 'Great Runaway' in 1777-1778 during the Revolutionary War. He cleared about 100 acres, built a home and barn and raised his family. Solomon and his wife had five children: William, Jacob, Frederick, Polly and Katie.
