The only proven sibling of Burrell is Sherrod Gean who applied for aRevolutionary War pension on 4 Oct 1834 (#R3960) in Pickens, SC. Sherrod states he was born 1761 in the part of Bute County, NC that was later divided into Franklin County, NC. This is where he lived in 1779 when he first entered the service. One of his tours was as a volunteer for his "father" unfortuantely, he didn't name him. His last tour ended about Aug. 1782, and thereafter he moved to Wilkes County, GA.Sherrod married and had at least one son, but both evidently had died while he lived in Wilkes according to his pension papers. One marriage found in Caswell Co., NC was for Sherrod Jean & Rosanah Lea who married 20 Feb 1785.....About 1832, Sherrod moved to Pickens Dist. SC near his brother, Burrell. Sherrod died 15 Jan 1844, and Burrell was established as his only living heir on 26 Sept 1853. One of the witnesses to establish the relationship was an Elizabeth League in 1853 in Pickens, SC. who stated she lived near and knew them to be brothers in NC.
