  2. The 1850 census shows two men living in Erving, MA, possibly brothers, Quartus Brigham and Barzilla Brigham. There is also a death record for John W. Brigham in Erving. One website suggests these may all belong to this family (saying "parents assumed", does not appear to be especially reliable, so this appears to be assumed solely on the basis of location). This may be, but no evidence for this has been found other than their presence in Erving (where the lack of records makes it difficult to resolve these issues). Guardian records exist for children of Sardis under 14 in 1835 (including two daughters unknown to this website), and none of these assumed children are included (at least two clearly should be if they were children of Sardis). The pattern of data for this family that has been found is odd, as the first birth appears to be 1818 (by age at death), 11 years after the marriage??? There is plenty of room for unknown children to be added to this family, but not in the time period these assumed children fall. The 1810 census shows 1 child living with mother and father. He has not been located in the 1820 census. In the 1830 census, this a son under 5, 2 sons 10-15, 1 son 15-20, one son 20-30, daughter under 5, daughter 5-10, and 2 daughters 15-20. Assuming these are all children, it suggests there are three sons and 2 daughters unaccounted for, all probably older than Charles who was 12 at the time. But all children born after 1820 appear accounted for.
