In 1844 he was married to Elizabeth Morris, of Elkhart county, Indiana, who died in 1869, leaving a family of four children to mourn her loss with him. They are named respectively: Lavina, wife of John Brown, living in Iowa: Julia A., wife of J. Smith, living in Chicago; Martha E., wife of Wm. Sytz, living in Newton, Iowa, and Sarah J.
