  3.   Savage, p. 3:366, pairs the father Col. Samuel Partridge with Mary Cotton, but the father's first wife did not die until 1730. History of Hadley shows both father and son marrying a Mrs. Atwater, daughter of Rev. Seaborn Cotton! On p. 1:464, Savage says Mary's was the second wife and widow of John Atwater of Salem, but his first wife survived him and was named in his probate. This Mary Atwater is probably the widow of Joshua Atwater. She is hinted by Savage, and indicated by Torrey, as Mary (Maverick) Smith, but that doesn't match the age at death of Samuel Partridge's wife.
