COTTON. Samuel, m. Mary Dress, Feb. 9, 1758 [1:107]
Although all the children's births list the mother as Elizabeth, there does not appear to be any Elizabeth Dresser in Pomfret that could have married Samuel. So the marriage record appears the more credible. If the births were recorded in a group, the mother's name might only have been written once for the whole lot, as a heading. Some Internet sites insist on calling her Mary Elizabeth Dresser. She may be the Mary Cotton who m. 1772 David Ford. They had a daughter, Polly, and then are seen no more.
