    "Sybilla4 … married Ephraim Roper and married secondly, Ebenezer Chamberlain of Oxford."

    This is an example of the apparently incorrect identification of the second husband of Sybilla (Moore) Roper which is given by some authors. The record of Samuel Chamberlain's marriage to "Sibel Roper of Marlborough" makes it clear that he was the Chamberlain husband in question. There was no other Sybil Roper at that time who was old enough to be his (third) wife.
