Although it says 'bachelor' Samuel was actually a widower. His first wife had died in November 1827 and his first child with Fanny was baptised in October 1829, giving a fairly narrow window for his second marriage. Moreover, the General Register Office's index of births include an unnamed female Bent with mother's maiden name Humphrey in 1839 in Luton district, who was presumably the Eliza Bent who appears with Samuel and Fanny in the 1841 census.
