    Sources given:
Watertown p. 263: Will of John Grout, dated 24 Jul 1697, mentions dr. Elizabeth's 5 children by Samuel Allen.
Busby, p. 19. Not available due to copyright but searching for combinations of Nicholas Busby and Samuel Allen, in general, suggests Sarah Busby was 2nd wife of John Grout and probably this reference is similar to the above.
Grout, p. 8 [sic, note, in this source Samuel Allen only mentioned on p. 22 (here, image 26): Children of John Grout: "Elizabeth m. (1) Samuel Allen; m. (2) John Livermore"; clearly the desired source was Morse's Grout, where on p. 8 it says:] Elizabeth m. 16 Dec 1683 Samuel Allen, m. (2) John Livermore of Watertown.
Allen(#14), p. 5 [actually found on p. 4 (here image 5)]: Children of Daniel Allen and Mary Sherman: "iv. Samuel, b. April 17, 1664; much uncertainty about him. He is, perhaps, the Samuel who m. 1683, Elizabeth Grout, of Sudbury."
Sv, 1:36: "SAMUEL, Sudbury, m. Elizabeth d. of John Grout, had five ch. provid. for in the will of their gr.f. as f. had d. and his wid. m. lieut. John Livermore, by that will call. s. in law."
Bullard Anc, p. 223 (here, image 228): Lt. John Livermore, d. Weston 9 Feb 1719, m. (2) Mrs. Elizabeth Allen, widow of Samuel Allen, daughter of John and Sarah (Busby) Grout of Sudbury.
Frame-Dana, p. 179 (here, image 184): Lieut. John Livermore m. (2) "Elizabeth (Grout) Allen, born at Sudbury, Mass, about 1666, died 30 May 1732, widow of Samuel Allen and Daughter of Capt. John and Sarah (Busby) Grout, of Sudbury, Mass."
Reg., Vol. 109:153-156 (pertinent info only on 153-154): "Notes", "Grout-Livermore-Allen" submitted by Bertha W. Clark: "The somewhat ambiguous wording of a will written in 1697 led several of our oldest and best genealogists into an error that seems to have gone unchallenged for almost a hundred years." Will of John Grout: "...my Son in Law John Livermore Shall have all that my farm of Seventy Acres which lyeth by Medups in Watertown he paying to my five grandchildren which My Daughter Elisabeth bare to Samll Allen as the Children Shall Come of age..." "This is the only mention in the will of either Elizabeth or of John Livermore." Watertown vital records: "Elizabeth the wife of Samuel Allen diceaced: August 28: 1694". John Livermore's only wife Hannah, obviously from above, Hannah Grout. "Samuel Allen's second wife was Lydia Hastings, daughter of John Seaborn Hastings and his wife Lydia Champney. Again there has been serious confusion. Bond knew only that Lydia married --- Allen. Paige says she married Ebenezer Allen." Division of John Seaborn Hastings in 1723 receipts given by Samuel Allen and Lydia Allen [citing Middlesex Probate 10670].
