Mr R.S. Jones – Miss D.M. Mathews – Two well-known workers at the Methodist Church, Quex Road, Kilburn, Mr Ronald Stephen Jones and Miss Dorothy May Mathews, were married in that church on Saturday by the Rev. F.H. Cumbers (Minister).
The bridegroom, a Sunday School teacher, is the youngest son of Mr and Mrs Albert Jones, 193 Chevening Road, Brondesbury. His father is in partnership with his brother in the well-known Kilburn High Road business of jewellers, silversmiths and opticians, founded many years ago by their father.
The bride, who was secretary of the Morning Sunday School of the church, is the youngest daughter of the late Mr William Mathews, 6, Eresby Road, Kilburn. Both are well known in the district and a large congregation assembled to witnessed the ceremony.
The bride, given away by her uncle, Mr E. Harbridge, wore a gown of ivory satin, with suitable headress and long veil. Her bouquet was of red carnations and lilies of the valley.
The bridesmaids were Misses D. and A. Mathews (bride’s sisters) and Ethel Jones (bridegroom’s sister). Their frocks were of hyacinth blue crepe and they carried pink tulips. Mr Jack Foster, of Hastings, was best man.
The reception, attended by 70 guests, was held in St George’s Hall, Kingsgate Road.
Later the newly married couple left for the Isle of White, the bride travelling in a blue ensemble.
