ROBERT man and Sarah Talbard both of Sudbury were married by Justice Minott August 7: 1711.
↑ The wife has not been identified, not known if she is a widow or not. The similarity of this wife's name to the previous wife's name (Sarah Talbot to Sarah Talbard) raises the possibility this is the same marriage with a mistranscribed date. It is also odd that the record found in Sudbury says the marriage occurred in Concord, and this is the record found in Concord. In 1717 when Robert wrote his will no wife is mentioned, so if this marriage did happen, the wife died before that date. It makes sense that with two young boys, 1 and 4 years of age, Robert may well have needed to remarry. On the other hand, if this is the same as the previous marriage, obviously the date should be before 1707 when the first of the children was born. The alleged dates of the two marriages, 17 Mar and 7 Aug, seem different enough, but the original records haven't been seen, and funny things can occur when reading colonial writing (Mar and May are easily mistaken, and May and Aug are occasionally mistaken, a stray mark might add the 1 making a 7 into a 17, etc). No satisfactory answer has been to found to explain the records as they are written.
