  3. Most sources, e.g., Source:Deane, Samuel. History of Scituate (Massachusetts), p. 265, seem to assume it was the younger Richard Dwelley that married Elizabeth Simmons. The probate on Richard Sr. is somewhat sparse, consisting of administration being granted to his son and an inventory, so no naming of a widow. However, there is no break in the births of the children of son Richard Jr. to allow for remarriage, and some of the children of son Richard, Jr., are baptized after his death as children of "Richard Dwelly Deceased, and Aimy his Widdow" (NEHGR, p. 58:89), and administration of Richard, Jr.'s estate is granted to "Amy Dwelly Relict Widdow of Richard Dwelly late of Scituate" on 23 Apr 1709 (Plymouth Probate 2:102), and the division of the estate of Richard Jr. goes to "widow Amy Dwelleys 3'd", and to the "Children (viz) Richard Joshua: Sam'll : Mary Elizabeth Ruth Lidia & Margrett" (plymouth Probate 3:27). So Elizabeth Simmons mush have married Richard, Sr.
