Source:Chamberlain, George Walter. History of Weymouth, Massachusetts, p. 3:131, claims the Diary of Peter Hobart shows a marriage of Richard Brown to the widow of George Marsh, said to be Elizabeth (Key) Marsh by some sources. This may have been based on a list of marriages found in Hobart's diary published in NEHGR, Vol. 2, p. 252 (1848) that transcribed the entry as Brown. However, a subsequent transcription in NEHGR, Vol. 121, p. 21 (1967), gives "Richard Bowen married to Elezebeth Marsh at Weymouth". An article in TAG, Vol. 76, p. 268, reported examining a photocopy of the original diary and found it to actually say Richard Bowen, not Richard Brown, adding, "The name Bowen is as clear as it could possibly be." Thus Richard Brown's second wife was not the widow of George Marsh.
