10 Apr 1897. Peter Firth, 21, bachelor, miner, or New Hirst, Batley, son of Benjamin Firth, tongle setter
married Jane Battye, 22, spinster, rag picker, of Batley, daughter of Ben Battye (dead), farmer.

The groom's surname on the marriage registration appeared to be more "Frith" than "Firth", but the census of 1901 confirms it was Firth.
