Page 275. - ↑ This is a guess again. Book 1868-1871 page 237. Henry Co AL located in Abbeville, Henry, AL, says;
The State of AL, Henry Co, to any Ordained or Licensed Minister of the Gospel, Judge of the Circuit or Probate Courts or Justice of the Peace for said County Greeting;
You are hereby authorized to celebrate the rights of matrimony between Perry Owens & Elizabeth Hasty and this shall be your sufficient authority for so doing. Given under my Hand and Seal this 12th day of Dec 1894
The above named parties were married by me @ Fletcher Freemens ? 12th day of Dec 1870
There was also a torn piece of lined paper saying Judge Applen sir please let my son Perry have lisens to marry Elizabeth Hasty and you will oblige yours on 12 Dec 1870, signed by W ? and Rachel Owens
Also, The State of AL, Henry Co, know all men by these presents that we Perry Owens and J A Cland? are held and firmly bound unto the State of AL in the penal sum of $200; for the payment of which will and turly to be made, we bind ourselves and each and every of our Heirs, Executors and Administrators, jointly and severally firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals and dated the 12the day of Dec 1870.
The condition of the above obligation is such that if there be no lawful cause why Perry Owens and Elizabeth Hesty should no be joined together in the holy union of matrimony, then this obligation to be void otherwise to remain in full force and virtue. Signed by Perry Owens by his mark an X
